A 36-year-old man charged with common assault has been granted $8000 bail by Magistrate Ava Vandeburg-Bailey at the Mayaro Magistrates’ Court. He is expected to reappear in court on May 17th.
According to police reports, on April 16th, during a domestic dispute between a man and his common-law wife the man allegedly held a cutlass, pointed it towards the woman and threatened her.
The matter was reported to the Mayaro Gender-Based Violence Unit and WPC Ramsaran conducted investigations. As a result, the man was arrested on 16th April, and subsequently charged on 19th April with the offence. Investigations were supervised by Senior Supt. Claire Guy Alleyne, ASP Bridglal, Inspector Lopez and Sergeant Acres.
