Two men am­bushed a 47-year-old man be­fore beat­ing and stab­bing him dur­ing an at­tack at Bor­de Narve Vil­lage, San Fer­nan­do, on Sat­ur­day night.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said Ja­son Soogrim, 47, re­mains ward­ed in a se­ri­ous con­di­tion at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal even as po­lice hunt for the sus­pects.

Po­lice said around 9pm, Soogrim, of Pan­cham Gar­dens, Cipero Road, was stand­ing along the road­way op­po­site Pi­o­neer Bar when a black Maz­da 3 stopped be­side him. Two men got out of the ve­hi­cle, and an ar­gu­ment broke out over a fam­i­ly is­sue.

Dur­ing the al­ter­ca­tion, one of the men hit Soogrim sev­er­al times on the head with a piece of wood, while the oth­er stabbed him mul­ti­ple times about the body. The at­tack­ers then es­caped in the same ve­hi­cle, head­ing west.

Soogrim was tak­en by a friend to the Princes Town Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty and lat­er trans­ferred to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he was treat­ed for sev­er­al in­juries, in­clud­ing a 5-cen­time­tre cut to the right side of his head, a 2-cen­time­tre punc­ture wound near the up­per back, and small­er wounds to the chest and back.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors from the Princes Town Po­lice Dis­trict, led by PC Bas­deo, can­vassed the area for CCTV footage and are con­tin­u­ing in­quiries. Po­lice said one of the sus­pects is known to Soogrim. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
