One day after the T&T Police Service (TTPS) appealed to motorists to slow down and stop speeding, a fatal accident along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway (SSHH), Couva, claimed the life of one man and left several others nursing injuries.
The deceased driver was identified as Quilon Atiba Rostant, 29, of Orange Field Road, Chase Village, Chaguanas.
Reports indicate the Rostant had been proceeding north along the SSHH around 5 am, when he reportedly lost control and crossed the median, colliding with drivers Rishi Mohammed and Leanson Mitchell, causing extensive damage to both their vehicles.
Mohammed, of Cunupia; and Mitchell who is from Mamoral – had been proceeding south along the SSHH in the vicinity of the Ato Boldon Stadium at the time.
After coming into contact with the two drivers, Rostant’s car slid off the roadway into some bushes.
He was pinned behind the wheel and died at the scene.
