One day af­ter the T&T Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) ap­pealed to mo­torists to slow down and stop speed­ing, a fa­tal ac­ci­dent along the Sir Solomon Ho­choy High­way (SSHH), Cou­va, claimed the life of one man and left sev­er­al oth­ers nurs­ing in­juries.

The de­ceased dri­ver was iden­ti­fied as Quilon At­i­ba Ros­tant, 29, of Or­ange Field Road, Chase Vil­lage, Ch­agua­nas.

Re­ports in­di­cate the Ros­tant had been pro­ceed­ing north along the SSHH around 5 am, when he re­port­ed­ly lost con­trol and crossed the me­di­an, col­lid­ing with dri­vers Rishi Mo­hammed and Lean­son Mitchell, caus­ing ex­ten­sive dam­age to both their ve­hi­cles.

Mo­hammed, of Cunu­pia; and Mitchell who is from Mamoral – had been pro­ceed­ing south along the SSHH in the vicin­i­ty of the Ato Boldon Sta­di­um at the time.

Af­ter com­ing in­to con­tact with the two dri­vers, Ros­tant’s car slid off the road­way in­to some bush­es.

He was pinned be­hind the wheel and died at the scene.
