A 34-year-old man has died af­ter a fire de­stroyed his home at Jor­dan Ter­race, D’Abadie, on Sat­ur­day morn­ing.

Around 11:30 am, a neigh­bour no­ticed smoke com­ing from the house and called for help. Fire of­fi­cers from the Ari­ma sta­tion re­spond­ed and ex­tin­guished the blaze.

When they searched the build­ing, they found the body of Qua­si Squires in­side a bed­room. The dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer pro­nounced him dead at the scene and or­dered the body’s re­moval for a post-mortem.

The two-bed­room con­crete struc­ture had no elec­tric­i­ty or run­ning wa­ter. The cause of the fire has not yet been de­ter­mined.
