A 50-year-old man has died fol­low­ing a road traf­fic ac­ci­dent along the South­ern Main Road in Mc Bean, Cou­va.

Around 3 pm on Sat­ur­day, a Nis­san Cube head­ing south col­lid­ed with a mo­tor­cy­cle that was trav­el­ling north. The dri­ver of the car, 40-year-old Shawn Charles of Clax­ton Bay, told in­ves­ti­ga­tors the mo­tor­cy­clist over­took an­oth­er ve­hi­cle and crashed in­to his car.

The rid­er, Rakesh Ra­goo­nanan of Mc Bean, was tak­en to the Cou­va Health Fa­cil­i­ty by am­bu­lance but was pro­nounced dead around 4:10 pm.

His body was lat­er trans­ferred to the San Fer­nan­do Mor­tu­ary, where a post-mortem will be con­duct­ed.
