A man identified as Marvin Alleyne—also known as "Goldie" and "Marva"—was stabbed to death and his body left at the side of the road at Lady Chancellor Hill in Port-of-Spain.
Police said around 4 am yesterday a passerby saw Alleyne, who was clad only in women’s garment, lying on the ground in the vicinity of the Horticulture Centre.
The man appeared to be dead.
The police were called in and arrived on the scene shortly thereafter.
Police said Alleyne's body bore several stab wounds.
Investigators are working on the theory that Alleyne was a “cross-dresser” and his killing may have been a “hate crime.”
His body was removed from the area and taken to the Forensic Science Centre for identification pending an autopsy.
Investigations are continuing.
