A 28-year-old man was fined $65,000 for two firearm-related offences after ammo and parts for a gun were found in a toy basket and freezer.
Andell Valdez of Retrench Village, San Fernando, pleaded guilty before San Fernando Magistrate Brian Debideen, charged with possession of firearms for the purpose of trafficking and possession of firearms.
The charges stemmed from a search conducted by police officers at his home on February 23, 2024.
During the search, it is alleged that the officers found components of firearms and 15 nine-millimetre rounds of ammunition amongst toys in a pink plastic basket in a bedroom and a freezer. He was charged by PC Jugoon.
Valdez was represented by attorney Kiran Panday.
He was fined $50,000 on the trafficking charge and $15000 on the ammunition charge. He has until June 6, 2026, to pay the fines.
