A man who was released from prison in December and allegedly issued threats to gang members at Maracas Bay over drug turf was gunned down on Wednesday.
Johanathan Lawrence Johnson, 32, of Santa Cruz Trail Road, Maracas Bay Old Road, was shot multiple times around 6 p.m. on July 9.
Residents alerted police after gunshots were heard in the area. Responding officers later found Johnson’s body behind his mother’s house.
Johnson, who reportedly worked as a loader, was found lying face-down.
Police recovered 16 spent 5.56 mm shell casings—four of which bore the markings “TTAG” (T&T Air Guard)—along with 14 spent 9 mm shell casings at the scene.
Reports indicate Johnson left home around 5.45 p.m. to go to a nearby shop to buy cigarettes and something to eat. Shortly after, gunshots were heard.
Witnesses claimed Johnson was seen running towards his mother’s house while four masked men chased and allegedly fired at him.
The suspects reportedly fled in a waiting Tiida.
