Po­lice of­fi­cers held a 42-year-old man in Rich­plain Diego Mar­tin on Fri­day night with a drum mag­a­zine and am­mu­ni­tion, a short dis­tance away from where a 20-year-old man was shot and killed.

Po­lice say West­ern Di­vi­sion task force of­fi­cers were re­spond­ing to a re­port of armed men mov­ing through the com­mu­ni­ty. While of­fi­cers were con­duct­ing search­es they heard ex­plo­sions a short dis­tance away and re­spond­ed.

"Up­on ar­rival at the lo­ca­tion, po­lice of­fi­cers ob­served a man with a light-coloured back­pack on his back who looked in the di­rec­tion of the ap­proach­ing marked po­lice ve­hi­cle and who be­gan run­ning up a stair­way.

The law­men alight­ed from the po­lice ve­hi­cle and gave chase, sub­se­quent­ly de­tain­ing the sus­pect a short dis­tance away," a po­lice state­ment said.

Po­lice found one black coloured drum shaped mag­a­zine con­tain­ing 14 rounds of nine mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion.

Je­re­mi­ah An­toine, 20, was shot and killed on up­per Uni­ty Road, on Fri­day night.
