A Carapo man was found dead in the kitchen of a house at La Platta Gardens, Valencia, yesterday morning.
Police said Anthony Simmons, 30, of Simon Road, Carapo, who was well known by police, was found with gunshot wounds to his face.
Reports state that PCS Pope, Benoit, Mendoza and WPC Gonzales, of Valencia Police Post, responded to report of loud explosions at La Platta Gardens at 3.30 am.
When they arrived at the scene, the officers found Simmons lying against a cupboard in the kitchen area unresponsive.
District Medical Officer Dr White viewed the body and ordered it removed to the Sangre Grande Hospital, where it was to be transferred to the Forensic Science Centre, St James, for a post-mortem.
Police sources said Simmons, who was known to them, had left Carapo and gone to Valencia to hide.
CSI officers WPC Castillo and Ngui processed the scene and retrieved several spent shells
Sgt Ramjohn, PCs Ali and Nunez, of the Arouca Homicide Bureau Region II, joined the Valencia Police. Also visiting the scene were ASP Russell Sgt Baksh and Cpl Jupiter.
This was the second murder reported within the community in two days. On Friday night, Jamal Cumberbatch, 21, of Paradise Lane, Valencia, was shot dead and three others, including a 16-year-old student, were injured in an attack at a house there.
