A 30-year-old man is cling­ing to life af­ter he was shot sev­er­al times while walk­ing in Tu­na­puna on Thurs­day night.

Po­lice said the man was walk­ing on Tu­na­puna Road near St John's Street, at around 7 pm, when he was con­front­ed by two gun­men who shot him sev­er­al times in his head, stom­ach and leg be­fore run­ning away.

Res­i­dents heard the gun­shots and called the po­lice.

Of­fi­cers of the North Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force were called in and took the bleed­ing man to hos­pi­tal where he re­mained in crit­i­cal and un­sta­ble con­di­tion.

Crime scene in­ves­ti­ga­tors vis­it­ed the scene and found 11 spent shells.

Of­fi­cers of the Tu­na­puna CID are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
