A 36-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being shot outside his home in Bethel, Tobago, around midnight on Monday.
Police said the man had just arrived at his Riseland home and was speaking with a friend when they saw someone in a dark-coloured hoodie approaching from the back of the house.
The suspect pointed a gun at them and fired several shots. The victim said he felt burning sensations in his left leg and upper right chest before he and his friend ran off in different directions. Neighbours later helped him, and an ambulance took him to the Scarborough General Hospital.
He remains conscious and in stable condition with gunshot wounds to the leg and chest.
Officers from the Shirvan Road Police Station and the CID responded to the scene.
No one has been arrested, and investigators have not yet determined a motive.
