A 36-year-old man is re­cov­er­ing in hos­pi­tal af­ter be­ing shot out­side his home in Bethel, To­ba­go, around mid­night on Mon­day.

Po­lice said the man had just ar­rived at his Rise­land home and was speak­ing with a friend when they saw some­one in a dark-coloured hood­ie ap­proach­ing from the back of the house.

The sus­pect point­ed a gun at them and fired sev­er­al shots. The vic­tim said he felt burn­ing sen­sa­tions in his left leg and up­per right chest be­fore he and his friend ran off in dif­fer­ent di­rec­tions. Neigh­bours lat­er helped him, and an am­bu­lance took him to the Scar­bor­ough Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

He re­mains con­scious and in sta­ble con­di­tion with gun­shot wounds to the leg and chest.

Of­fi­cers from the Shir­van Road Po­lice Sta­tion and the CID re­spond­ed to the scene.

No one has been ar­rest­ed, and in­ves­ti­ga­tors have not yet de­ter­mined a mo­tive.
