A Petit Valley man believed to have been in hiding, was gunned down yesterday as his killers pursued him along the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway (CRH) before opening fire on the car he was in.
This was reported to have been the second attempt to kill Richard “Mansion” Mark.
Police said the gunmen initially attempted to ambush the 32-year-old, who had addresses at Ravine Road and Morne Coco Road, Petit Valley, around midnight in Trincity, as they riddled the car he was driving with bullets.
After managing to escape unhurt, Mark was reported to have contacted people from Petit Valley to come and rescue him at a location in Trincity.
It was alleged he was collected by two men and as they headed west along the highway in a car, a dark-coloured vehicle, which had been idling under the Curepe Interchange, pulled alongside theirs and the occupants began shooting.
The driver of the car Mark was in reportedly sped up and stopped suddenly near the walkover near the Cipriani Labour College, Valsayn, after they spotted a marked police vehicle parked on the eastbound lane of the CRH.
The two men got out the car and ran across the road, begging the officers for help, as the suspects sped past the bullet-riddled car and headed south along the Uriah Butler Highway.
The officers then approached the car that had been left on the shoulder and found Mark dead in the back seat.
He had been shot multiple times. The two other men were unhurt.
A police search for the suspects was unsuccessful.
