One man was shot dead in Tunapuna, while another man was shot in Arima in two separate incidents on Monday night.
Man, 45, gunned down near Tunapuna market
In the first incident, a 45-year-old man collapsed and died near the Tunapuna Market at around 9 pm after being shot.
According to police reports, Atiba Joseph of Mohammed Trace, Tunapuna, was with a group of people near WASA’s compound at St Augustine Circular when a man approached and shot several times.
After being shot, Joseph began running along the Priority Bus Route to escape, but the gunman followed him, firing more shots.
The suspect escaped, but Joseph collapsed near the market. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Man, 28, survives shotgun attack
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 28-year-old man was shot multiple times outside a house located at the Eastern Main Road in Maturita, at around 9:35 pm on Monday (July 31).
According to police reports, Shaquille Sandy was at a friend’s home, located next to Geez Essential Laundry Mart, when a man approached with a shotgun and shot twice.
Sandy was shot in his leg, causing him to collapse. The gunman escaped.
Sandy was rushed to hospital and was in stable condition as of Tuesday morning.
