One man was shot dead in Tu­na­puna, while an­oth­er man was shot in Ari­ma in two sep­a­rate in­ci­dents on Mon­day night.

Man, 45, gunned down near Tu­na­puna mar­ket

In the first in­ci­dent, a 45-year-old man col­lapsed and died near the Tu­na­puna Mar­ket at around 9 pm af­ter be­ing shot.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, At­i­ba Joseph of Mo­hammed Trace, Tu­na­puna, was with a group of peo­ple near WASA’s com­pound at St Au­gus­tine Cir­cu­lar when a man ap­proached and shot sev­er­al times.

Af­ter be­ing shot, Joseph be­gan run­ning along the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route to es­cape, but the gun­man fol­lowed him, fir­ing more shots.

The sus­pect es­caped, but Joseph col­lapsed near the mar­ket. He was pro­nounced dead at the scene.

Man, 28, sur­vives shot­gun at­tack

Mean­while, in a sep­a­rate in­ci­dent, a 28-year-old man was shot mul­ti­ple times out­side a house lo­cat­ed at the East­ern Main Road in Ma­tu­ri­ta, at around 9:35 pm on Mon­day (Ju­ly 31).

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, Shaquille Sandy was at a friend’s home, lo­cat­ed next to Geez Es­sen­tial Laun­dry Mart, when a man ap­proached with a shot­gun and shot twice.

Sandy was shot in his leg, caus­ing him to col­lapse. The gun­man es­caped.

Sandy was rushed to hos­pi­tal and was in sta­ble con­di­tion as of Tues­day morn­ing.
