In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing in­to the shoot­ing death of an un­em­ployed man out­side his home at Dun­don­ald Hill, Long Cir­cu­lar Road, St James,

Isi­ah Mur­phy, 25, was found on the steps lead­ing to his home short­ly af­ter res­i­dents re­port­ed hear­ing gun­shots at around 8.10 pm. His moth­er, who was in a bed­room at the time, called to neigh­bours for help and they took Mur­phy to the St James In­fir­mary, where he lat­er died

Mur­phy, who was the fa­ther of a four-year-old boy, was de­scribed by his com­mon-law wife, Na­tal­ie Mitchell, as a “re­al try­ing youth man” and a “cool and nice” per­son.

At the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre, St James yes­ter­day, Mitchell said the vic­tim was a steel ben­der but was out of a job and had been sell­ing snacks and drinks to sup­port his fam­i­ly.

The mur­der toll stood at 583 up to yes­ter­day.
