A Mor­vant man re­mains un­der po­lice guard in hos­pi­tal af­ter killing his broth­er dur­ing an ar­gu­ment over him (the vic­tim) be­ing abu­sive to his wife yes­ter­day.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, the sib­lings were at their home at Mon Re­pos Road in Mor­vant when one got in­to an ar­gu­ment with his com­mon-law wife ear­ly yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Sus­pect­ing that his sib­ling was go­ing to as­sault the woman, the man re­port­ed­ly in­ter­vened.

Dur­ing the heat­ed ar­gu­ment be­tween the sib­lings, the in­ter­ven­ing broth­er was stabbed in his shoul­der with a screw­driv­er.

The wound­ed broth­er then went to the kitchen where he picked up a knife and slashed his broth­er’s throat.

Po­lice of­fi­cers from the North East­ern Di­vi­sion re­spond­ed to the scene and found the wound­ed broth­er sit­ting at the side of the road.

He was tak­en to the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment, while his broth­er, who was on­ly iden­ti­fied by his alias “Ras” up to late yes­ter­day, was pro­nounced dead on the scene by a Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer (DMO).

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.

In an un­re­lat­ed in­ci­dent, a Unit­ed States de­por­tee was mur­dered in La Hor­quet­ta on Sat­ur­day night.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, around 11 pm, res­i­dents of Phase Five, La Hor­quet­ta, re­port­ed hear­ing a vol­ley of gun­shots in their com­mu­ni­ty.

Of­fi­cers from the North­ern Di­vi­sion re­spond­ed to the scene and found the vic­tim, lat­er iden­ti­fied as Mosakiel Rose, ly­ing at the side of the road with gun­shot wounds.

Rose was pro­nounced dead on the scene by a Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer (DMO), while crime scene in­ves­ti­ga­tors re­cov­ered 10 spent shells in the area.

An au­top­sy is ex­pect­ed to be per­formed on Rose’s body at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre in St James lat­er this week.

De­tec­tives of the Re­gion Two Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.

Mean­while, po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing an in­ci­dent in which two men were chopped and beat­en dur­ing a home in­va­sion in Ari­ma on Sat­ur­day night.

Po­lice said around 11.35 pm, the men were at their home lo­cat­ed along the Mal­abar Main Road when two men armed with cut­lass­es en­tered and be­gan at­tack­ing them.

One of the men’s rel­a­tives man­aged to leave the house and stopped a car which took her to the Mal­abar Po­lice Post where she re­port­ed the in­ci­dent.

When the woman re­turned to the house with the po­lice of­fi­cers, the wound­ed men had been tak­en to hos­pi­tal by neigh­bours af­ter their at­tack­ers left the scene in a white Nis­san Ti­i­da.

The men, who had chop wounds to their heads and frac­tured skulls, re­mained ward­ed in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion up to late yes­ter­day.
