An early morning shooting following an altercation at a Point Fortin bar yesterday led to the death of a 27-year-old man. The victim, Shaikel St Louis, 27, a sheet metal installation worker at Atlantic LNG, was not involved in the altercation, police said.
Initial reports stated that around 2.30 am, an altercation occurred at Level 1 Bar, Point Fortin, resulting in patrons exiting onto Wickham Street and someone firing a gunshot.
St Louis was shot, collapsed and died on the road. His mother later identified his body.
When Guardian Media called St Louis’ mother’s phone, a woman said she was resting and too distraught to speak with anyone. Officers of the Homicide Bureau Region 3 are investigating.
