A Pleasantville man has pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman and was granted bail pending sentencing.
Police said that around 8.50 pm on Sunday, PC Bishop was on duty at the San Fernando Municipal Police Post on Penitence Street, San Fernando, when he observed Richard Francis, also known as “Aqui,” of Circular Left, Pleasantville, running north along the street.
Acting on information received, the officer gave chase and detained Francis a short distance away.
Police said PC Bishop later visited the San Fernando General Hospital, where he met Suzette Natalie Bradshaw of Gonzales Trace, Penal, who was receiving medical treatment for injuries allegedly sustained during an assault.
Based on the information gathered, Francis was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He later appeared before the San Fernando Magistrates' Court, where he pleaded guilty to the charge.
The court granted him bail in the sum of TT$5,000, and the matter was adjourned to July 8 for sentencing.
