A South Oropouche man is warded in a stable condition after he allegedly shot himself in the head while playing with a gun on Saturday.
Police said the 22-year-old man did not receive life-threatening injuries as the bullet only grazed him.
He, however, could be charged upon his release from the hospital as he is not a holder of a Firearm Users Licence.
Police said shortly after 12 pm he was in the yard of his home with his girlfriend.
He was brandishing the gun when it discharged and a bullet struck him on his head.
He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment.
Officers from the Oropouche and Siparia Police Station visited the scene and searched the premises, but the gun was not recovered.
Officers of the Oropouche Police are continuing investigations.
