A South Oropouche man is ward­ed in a sta­ble con­di­tion af­ter he al­leged­ly shot him­self in the head while play­ing with a gun on Sat­ur­day.

Po­lice said the 22-year-old man did not re­ceive life-threat­en­ing in­juries as the bul­let on­ly grazed him.

He, how­ev­er, could be charged up­on his re­lease from the hos­pi­tal as he is not a hold­er of a Firearm Users Li­cence.

Po­lice said short­ly af­ter 12 pm he was in the yard of his home with his girl­friend.

He was bran­dish­ing the gun when it dis­charged and a bul­let struck him on his head.

He was tak­en to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.

Of­fi­cers from the Oropouche and Siparia Po­lice Sta­tion vis­it­ed the scene and searched the premis­es, but the gun was not re­cov­ered.

Of­fi­cers of the Oropouche Po­lice are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
