A man is shot and robbed while attempting to sell his car.
Police reports say the man was lured to a location by a bandit who pretended to be interested in a vehicle he had advertised for sale on social media.
Days after posting his black Nissan X-trail for sale on Facebook, the 49-year-old owner, Vivayanand Soobnarine, got a call from a man who asked to see the car.
Soobnarine and his 24-year-old son arranged to meet the man at Baywatch Bar, S. S Erin Road, Penal opposite Penal Quinam Road on Friday.
Reports say when they got there around 5:35 pm, they contacted the man who asked them to meet at Penal Quinam Road instead.
They picked up the man and he directed them to Station 10 Road where they stopped at a junction for him to examine the engine.
However, a short while after, two men armed with guns came out of the bushes and announced a hold-up.
Soobnarine's son was pushed to the ground and robbed of two gold chains, a gold bera and a hand band.
One of the suspects got into the vehicle and tried to drive away, but Soobnarine fought and pulled him out of the vehicle.
But he was then shot in his left forearm and robbed of his cell phone.
The suspects then ran into the bushes.
The father and son then drove to the health facility where they called the police.
Penal police are investigating.
