A man who attempted to rob a woman with a toy gun was shot dead by her friend at South Park Mall in San Fernando last night.
Initial reports stated that around 11 pm, the 53-year-old woman and her
69-year-old friend were in a vehicle parked in the car park near Caribbean Cinemas and Starlite Pharmacy.
The windows were down. The woman was sitting in the driver¹s seat when she felt something pressed against her cheek. A man with a heavy voice told her that it was hold up.
Scared for her life, the woman's friend who was in the front seat drew his licenced Sig Sauer firearm and fired four shots at the suspect in the area of his abdomen.
The suspect walked a short distance away and collapsed in a grassy area.
When the police arrived, they took him to the San Fernando General Hospital but he died before he got there.
Investigations are continuing.
