Tobago’s murder count climbed to ten after a man was shot dead on Saturday night near a church in Mt Grace, Scarborough. This is the second murder to have happened in less than a week.
Police said around 9 pm residents reported hearing gunshots in the area. When officers arrived, they found Samuel Maharaj, 32, of Mt Zion, Whim shot dead near the Mt Grace Open Bible Church.
Investigators from the Tobago Police Division said they already had several leads they were pursuing. Snr Supt Rodhill Kirk vowed the case would be solved.
“I am confident that the police will do all within their power to bring the perpetrator to justice. I am not that man who will throw my hands up in the air. I have a good working team, and I know we will make a difference in the Tobago space,” the senior officer said. Kirk said Maharaj was known to police.
