A man was shot during an attempted robbery at his Diego Martin home on Saturday night.
Police said the incident happened around 10.05 p.m. while he was tending to his dog, which he believed had been poisoned. He told investigators that two men approached him, and one, described as slim, about five feet eight inches tall, brown-skinned and wearing a dark hoodie and black trousers, pointed a firearm at him and said, “this is a robbery, carry me inside.”
A struggle followed and a loud explosion was heard. The man said he let go of the attacker, and both suspects ran off, climbing over a wall on the western side of the compound.
He then realised he had been shot under his right arm. He ran inside, locked the gate, sought safety and contacted the police.
Officers responded, interviewed him, recorded a report and took him to the Westshore Accident and Emergency for treatment. Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene. Enquiries are continuing.
