A Gasparillo man was shot in his leg after he decided to intervene in a former couple’s argument on Friday night. Police said Niyi George, 26, was in stable condition at the San Fernando General Hospital after receiving emergency treatment. A report stated that George was walking along School Road, Gasparillo, around 10.25 pm when he saw the 25-year-old suspect arguing with his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend.
George got involved, and the suspect pulled out a chrome revolver and shot him once, striking him on his right foot. The suspect then ran into nearby bushes and disappeared.
Gasparillo Police, led by Cpl Roopnarine and Emergency Medical Technicians, responded and took George to the hospital. The officers interviewed several people and searched for the suspect, who remained in hiding up to late yesterday. Investigators also checked the area for CCTV cameras but did not find any. Police said the suspect wore a green long-sleeve jersey and black jeans. PC Roopchand is continuing the investigation.
