Man shot in attempted Facebook Marketplace robbery

A 50-year-old Freeport man was shot in the leg af­ter he went to meet some­one he met on Face­book to pur­chase a car.

Po­lice said the vic­tim and his wife went to Aranguez on Thurs­day at 10 am to meet a man he met on Face­book to pur­chase a Hyundai Elantra.

When they ar­rived at the meet­ing point, a gold Nis­san Almera blocked their path and a man with a gun and two oth­ers came out. As the men ap­proached, the vic­tim re­versed and was shot as he fled.

The vic­tim was shot in the left leg and tak­en to hos­pi­tal, where he is ward­ed in sta­ble con­di­tion.

A Mor­vant woman, who was in pos­ses­sion of the keys to the Nis­san Almera used in the at­tempt­ed rob­bery, is as­sist­ing po­lice with their in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
