A 25-year-old man is be­ing treat­ed at the hos­pi­tal af­ter he was shot while rid­ing his bi­cy­cle near a veg­etable stall in Rio Claro on Thurs­day night.

Po­lice said around 9 pm, Fa­reed Mo­hammed was rid­ing through Union Vil­lage when he heard a loud ex­plo­sion and im­me­di­ate­ly felt a burn­ing sen­sa­tion in his back.

De­spite his in­jury, Mo­hammed man­aged to ride home, where he dis­cov­ered he had been shot. He was quick­ly tak­en to the Ma­yaro Health Fa­cil­i­ty for emer­gency med­ical at­ten­tion by rel­a­tives.

Po­lice said doc­tors were able to re­move one bul­let be­fore trans­fer­ring Mo­hammed to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal for fur­ther treat­ment.

Of­fi­cers from the Rio Claro Po­lice Sta­tion are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
