In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing in­to an ac­ci­dent in Princes Town on Sun­day in which a man was killed and five oth­er peo­ple, in­clud­ing three chil­dren, were in­jured.

Po­lice said Ar­nel Young, 37, a trades­man of Tees­dale Road Junc­tion, Mandin­go, Moru­ga, died in the crash.

Of­fi­cers said around 11.30 am, a 36-year-old clerk was dri­ving along In­di­an Walk Road in her Hyundai Elantra with four pas­sen­gers, in­clud­ing a 44-year-old man, and three chil­dren—ages 13, six and two years old.

She told po­lice that when she got near Chan­da Trace, she saw a white Nis­san Navara dri­ven by Young, swerv­ing as it head­ed to­wards her.

Al­though she stopped, she said, the Navara slammed in­to the front of her ve­hi­cle at a fast speed, caus­ing her ve­hi­cle to spin and crash in­to a con­crete drain.

Young died at the scene while the oc­cu­pants of the oth­er ve­hi­cle were tak­en to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.

When Guardian Me­dia vis­it­ed Young’s home yes­ter­day, rel­a­tives de­clined com­ment. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
