One of the sus­pects held in con­nec­tion with the shoot­ing death of six-year-old Kylie Mal­oney was pos­i­tive­ly iden­ti­fied by two wit­ness­es at La Hor­quet­ta Po­lice Sta­tion on Fri­day. Po­lice al­so said yes­ter­day that the ar­rest of the two oth­er sus­pects are im­mi­nent.

The 25-year-old sus­pect of Damarie Hill, San­gre Grande, was held dur­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise for arms and am­mu­ni­tion car­ried out by po­lice of­fi­cers at­tached to the San­gre Grande CID and Task Force at North­east­ern Set­tle­ment, San­gre Grande, last Thurs­day.

That par­ty was led by In­spec­tor Ram­lakhan and in­clud­ed Sgts Bhim, Leon, Act­ing Cpls Os­ouna, Khan, PCs Singh, Mo­hammed and the K9 unit.

Of­fi­cers con­tin­ued their search for the oth­er two sus­pects at Damarie Hill, Blake Av­enue and North­east­ern Set­tle­ment over the week­end but were un­suc­cess­ful in their search.

The man­hunt for the two sus­pects in hid­ing was led by Sr Supt Singh and in­clud­ed In­sp Ram­lakhan, Sgt Leon, Cpl Os­una, PCs Singh, Smith, Charles, WPC Stew­art of San­gre Grande CID, Task Force and the K9 unit.

Po­lice al­so took the 25-year-old sus­pect al­ready in cus­tody to Guaico, San­gre Grande home to look for items of ev­i­dence. The po­lice found a pair army trousers, jer­sey and hat, which were seized by po­lice. In­ves­ti­ga­tors are prepar­ing files to be sent to the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tion on charges to be laid.

Mal­oney, of Quash Trace, Fos­ter Road, San­gre Grande, had to spend the week­end with rel­a­tives at Blake Av­enue Ex­ten­sion, Damarie Hill , San­gre Grande, when she was shot af­ter gun­men stormed their house on Jan­u­ary 8.

Re­ports re­vealed that three men dressed in army uni­forms and armed with guns en­tered the house and be­gan open­ing fire. Rel­a­tives said Kylie, who at­tempt­ed to run out of the bed­room where she slept with her moth­er and two male rel­a­tives, was shot in her chest and col­lapsed on the ground bleed­ing. She was tak­en up by rel­a­tives, placed in a pri­vate ve­hi­cle and rushed to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal where she suc­cumbed to her in­juries af­ter un­der­go­ing emer­gency surgery one hour lat­er. Her moth­er was shot in her left leg while her two male rel­a­tives were shot in the hand and shoul­der re­spec­tive­ly. They were treat­ed and dis­charged.

Mal­oney died from a sin­gle gun­shot wound to her chest, a post-mortem con­duct­ed at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre re­vealed on Thurs­day.
