A Maraval businessman was reportedly abducted and robbed during a home invasion, early Monday morning.
According to reports, around 4 am, James Chan was at his apartment at Saddle Road, Maraval, with his girlfriend and a male friend when five armed men came inside.
The men restrained Chan’s friends before three of them bundled him into his Toyota Corolla.
The men then drove to Chan’s business Mandarin Mini Mart located next to the Chinese Association’s headquarters in St Ann’s.
The men robbed Chan of $30,000 and left him at the business place after calling their accomplices.
The two men, who stayed at Chan’s apartment, stole his Nissan Qashqai and drove away.
Chan’s friends were able to later free themselves and reported the incident to the police.
When a news team from Guardian Media visited both locations on Monday, Chan was not at home and his business was closed.
Investigations are continuing.
