Maraval man charged with brother's murder

A Mar­aval man is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a Port of Spain Mag­is­trate May 18 charged with the mur­der of his broth­er, Atilo­la Josi­ah Herod, which oc­curred on May 12, 2020.
Stephen Lin­ton, 25, of Paramin Vil­lage, Mar­aval, was charged with the of­fence fol­low­ing ad­vice re­ceived from Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Roger Gas­pard SC, on May 15.
Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, Mr. Herod, 20, al­so of Paramin Vil­lage, Mar­aval, was asleep at his home on May 12, when a male rel­a­tive en­tered his bed­room and hit him sev­er­al blows to the head with a piece of iron be­fore run­ning off.
He died at the scene. Lin­ton was ar­rest­ed by of­fi­cers of the West­ern Di­vi­sion in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent on the same day and hand­ed over to Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (HBI) Re­gion 1, of­fi­cers.
The charge was laid by PC Cal­len­dar of HBI, Re­gion 1, on May 15.
