A Mar­aval man was shot at while dri­ving through the area on Wednes­day.

Po­lice said the 20-year-old, of Paramin Vil­lage, was dri­ving his white Maz­da Ax­ela around 2.45 pm when, up­on reach­ing the cor­ner of Beau Pres Road and Saut D’eau Road, he saw a dark-coloured Nis­san Qashqai ap­proach­ing from the op­po­site di­rec­tion.

The man said the dri­ver slowed down, pulled in front of his car and blocked the road.

The vic­tim said a masked man with a gun in his hand came out of the Qashqai and be­gan shoot­ing at his car.

The vic­tim said he got out of his car by climb­ing across the pas­sen­ger seat, ran down a short cliff and hid in some bush­es as gun­shots con­tin­ued to ring out.

He re­mained hid­den for some time and lat­er made his way to a near­by house, where the own­er al­lowed him a phone call to his fa­ther to come and meet him.

As the po­lice re­spond­ed to re­ports of a shoot­ing, they found the vic­tim’s car stalled along Saut D’eau Road, with bul­let holes in the bon­net and wind­shield.
A to­tal of 13 spent 9mm shell cas­ings were found on the road.
