A Maraval man was shot at while driving through the area on Wednesday.
Police said the 20-year-old, of Paramin Village, was driving his white Mazda Axela around 2.45 pm when, upon reaching the corner of Beau Pres Road and Saut D’eau Road, he saw a dark-coloured Nissan Qashqai approaching from the opposite direction.
The man said the driver slowed down, pulled in front of his car and blocked the road.
The victim said a masked man with a gun in his hand came out of the Qashqai and began shooting at his car.
The victim said he got out of his car by climbing across the passenger seat, ran down a short cliff and hid in some bushes as gunshots continued to ring out.
He remained hidden for some time and later made his way to a nearby house, where the owner allowed him a phone call to his father to come and meet him.
As the police responded to reports of a shooting, they found the victim’s car stalled along Saut D’eau Road, with bullet holes in the bonnet and windshield.
A total of 13 spent 9mm shell casings were found on the road.
