A male masquerader received emergency medical attention after falling off the stage at the Queen’s Park Savannah, as Carnival Monday’s Parade of the Bands got underway, today.

Reports are that the incident occurred at about 12:40 pm.

Guardian Media understands that just after the last section of the first band to cross the stage—Harts—had passed, it was observed that one of the masqueraders had fallen off the stage.

It is not clear whether the person fainted or fell.

The extent of the person’s injuries are yet to be confirmed, however, they did not appear to be life-threatening.

Carnival proceedings at the Savannah were halted temporarily as a result of the incident.

They resumed after the man was taken away by ambulance for further treatment.
