A joint law enforcement operation in Palo Seco on Wednesday resulted in the seizure of cocaine and Colombian marijuana valued at more than $292 million.
The exercise was coordinated by national security agencies and led by the elite Vetted Unit, with support from officers of the South-Western Division.
Authorities said the discovery was made at a concealed stash site, following overnight surveillance of the remote area.
According to official figures, the search produced 1,177.4 kilogrammes of Colombian marijuana packaged in 41 crocus bags, with an estimated value of TT$129,216,117.80. Officers also found 117.14 kilogrammes of cocaine in five crocus bags, valued at TT$163,283,788.80.
The seizure followed the arrest on Tuesday (September 30, 2025) of a close associate of a drug trafficking network operating in the South-Western Division. On that occasion, officers intercepted a large quantity of Colombian marijuana. Investigators said intelligence gathered from the arrest indicated that additional narcotics were to be moved from the Palo Seco stash to avoid detection, leading to the overnight surveillance and Wednesday’s discovery.
The Ministry of Homeland Security said the total street value of the narcotics seized across the two days amounted to more than TT$314 million.
The Ministry commended the Vetted Unit and supporting officers for their role in the operation and said it demonstrated the Government’s commitment to dismantling organized criminal networks.
