A 52-year-old man is in critical condition following a chopping incident in Mayaro yesterday afternoon. A woman was also injured.
Police said around 4 pm, Mukesh Ramkissoon, 52, of St Anns Village, and the 26-year-old suspect were involved in a heated argument that turned violent. The suspect chopped Ramkissoon on his head and about his body and threatened to kill him. The woman, Neisha Mohammed, 54, suffered minor injuries. The police arrested the suspect at the scene. With the assistance of villagers, the police took Ramkissoon to the Mayaro Health Facility, where he was examined and transferred to the Sangre Grande Hospital. Ramkissoon suffered multiple lacerations to his head, left thigh, left arm, back and left thumb.
The female victim suffered no lacerations but received an injury to her eye and ankle. She is in a stable condition at the hospital. The police seized the cutlass.
