Two men were beat­en and robbed of a to­tal of $27 while wait­ing for a maxi taxi in Curepe ear­ly on Wednes­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the men were stand­ing at the in­ter­sec­tion of the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route and the South­ern Main Road, at around 2.30 am when they were con­front­ed by four ban­dits.

The ban­dits beat one of the men caus­ing him to fall.

They stole the man’s wal­let which con­tained his na­tion­al ID card, bank card and $16 cash.

The ban­dits al­so stole $11 cash from the sec­ond man be­fore get­ting in a black car which was parked near the Unipet Gas Sta­tion and drove off.

St Joseph po­lice were called in and are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
