The Met Office has issued a high wind alert at Yellow Level, effective from Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 1:45 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
During this period, wind gusts exceeding 55 km/h are likely, particularly in association with brisk showers. These gusts are expected to initially impact eastern areas of Trinidad before gradually weakening as they move across the island.
Additionally, sea conditions are anticipated to become rough, with waves surpassing 2.5 metres in open waters and choppy conditions in sheltered areas. These high winds may displace loose objects, break tree branches, and disrupt marine activities.
The Met Office advises securing loose outdoor items and livestock, and urges marine users to exercise caution. Lifeguards' instructions should be followed, and residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates via www.metoffice.gov.tt.
