Minister with the responsibility of Gender and Child Affairs Ayanna Webster-Roy has sent a request to the police asking them to look into two videos involving minors that are circulating on social media.
The first video shows two young boys recording themselves engaging in sexual activity and the other is of a tiktoker alleging that a minor was involved in inappropriate activity with adult men. Some who viewed the video told the tiktoker in the comments that the matter should be reported to the police.
The minister said she had not seen the videos.
Speaking at the handover of the Braille version of the National Strategic Action Plan at the Parliamentary Complex, St Vincent Street, Port-of-Spain yesterday, Webster Roy pleaded with those who did not consider it their legal responsibility to report abuse to consider the minor’s future and asked for them to consider it as their moral and spiritual duty to do the right thing.
She said if the information did not come to the minister, the police, or the Children’s Authority then they could not act.
