Min­is­ter of So­cial De­vel­op­ment and Fam­i­ly Ser­vices, Don­na Cox re­ceived a cour­tesy call on Wednes­day from the Dis­trict Gov­er­nor of Ro­tary Dis­trict 7030, Bri­an Glas­gow of St Vin­cent and the Grenadines to dis­cuss ways in which both par­ties can as­sist and em­pow­er a key stake­hold­er of both or­gan­i­sa­tions – the vul­ner­a­ble. Ro­tary Dis­trict 7030 has 75 clubs span­ning across 17 coun­tries.

Dur­ing the meet­ing, Glas­gow told the Min­is­ter that re­gard­less of the ge­o­graph­i­cal lo­ca­tion, all re­gions en­counter the same chal­lenges. Mr. Glas­gow al­so in­di­cat­ed that the Ro­tary Clubs con­duct a Com­mu­ni­ty Needs As­sess­ment work­ing close­ly with Min­istries and oth­er pro­fes­sion­als to un­der­stand the needs of the com­mu­ni­ties when co­or­di­nat­ing the ex­e­cu­tion of their var­i­ous projects. He fur­ther added that the re­la­tion­ship be­tween the Ro­tary Club and min­istries such as the MS­DFS are crit­i­cal to the un­der­tak­ing of mean­ing­ful and im­pact­ful projects.

Min­is­ter Cox com­mend­ed the or­ga­ni­za­tion for their di­verse of­fer­ings to the vul­ner­a­ble adding that the Min­istry’s ser­vices tar­get the poor and vul­ner­a­ble in­clud­ing in­ter alia per­sons with dis­abil­i­ties, old­er per­sons, fam­i­lies, per­sons with HIV/AIDS and the so­cial­ly dis­placed. She added that there ex­ist ar­eas for col­lab­o­ra­tion in­clud­ing those of­fered by the Na­tion­al Ser­vices Di­vi­sion. She added that she was par­tic­u­lar­ly pleased with ini­tia­tives that pro­mote peace, re­silien­cy, and men­tal health aware­ness.
