As the world is recognising "Micro-, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises Day” (MSMEs), Minister of Social Development and Family Services Donna Cox has offered words of advice and encouragement to the owner of a new spa.

Minister Cox spoke during the official opening of Exotic Body Spa at Orchid Drive Chaguanas yesterday.

“Opening a Spa goes beyond just starting a business – it is about establishing an environment that fosters health and well-being. Thank you for creating an inclusive space that promotes wellness in every aspect; it is a valuable reminder to prioritize self-care in a society that often emphasizes productivity and success," she said.

According to a media release from the Ministry, the event, was quite timely as it occurred on the cusp of “Micro-, Small, and Mediumsized Enterprises Day” which is commemorated annually on June 27th, to raise awareness of the invaluable contributions of micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Ministry said business owner, Althea Robinson-Williams told those present at the brief ceremony, that she attributes discipline, determination and hard work to the realisation of her dream and

looks forward to the many lives she will be able to inspire as she provides mental and physical care as well as overall well-being to new and existing customers.

Minister Cox, reminded the new business owner that the entrepreneurship journey is not easy; as it takes courage, determination, and perseverance to make a dream a reality.

She congratulated Robinson-Williams on the new endeavour and encouraged her to set standards of exceptional service so that her business continues to flourish.

The Ministry of Social Development and Family Services said it was pleased to be associated with this event particularly since it offers a special SEED Grant for persons interested in starting and growing their small business.

Training in various aspects of a small business is also available under the Programme.

"For more information on the SEED Grant, persons may contact the National Social Development Programme (NSDP) at 623 – 2608; Ext 1501 to set up an appointment."
