Minister of Works and Infrastructure, Jearlean John, along with her team from the Ministry, joined Chairman Kenwyn Phillip and council members of the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation for a series of site visits across the Cumuto/Manzanilla and Toco/Sangre Grande constituencies on Wednesday.
The visit began at the Ministry of Works, Guaico, Sangre Grande, at 6 am. Locations visited included Guaico/Tamana, Bon Air Road, Cumuto, Gajadhar Road, Sangre Chiquito, Coryal, and Plum Road.
The ministry said these visits focused on addressing some of the region’s most urgent infrastructure challenges — including landslides, inadequate drainage systems, and deteriorating roadways.
Minister John engaged directly with local representatives and residents, listening to and discussing actionable plans to deliver sustainable improvements and relief to affected communities.
Local representatives and residents said the Minister John’s hands-on approach and dedication to people-centred development continue to set the standard as Government works to build a safer, stronger, and more resilient Toco/Sangre Grande and Cumuto/Manzanilla.
Following the visits, Minister John proceeded to the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation, where she listened to concerns raised by Chairman Kenwyn Phillip and councillors.
Minister John and Julio Jaggernauth, Engineer at the Ministry of Works, responded to the issues presented by the councillors.
