To­day, Min­is­ter of Health Ter­rence Deyals­ingh vis­it­ed the doc­tors, nurs­es and oth­er med­ical staff at the COVID-19 wards in the Cou­va Hos­pi­tal and Mul­ti-Train­ing Fa­cil­i­ty. Dur­ing his vis­it, the Min­is­ter ex­pressed his ap­pre­ci­a­tion to front­line work­ers. The fol­low­ing is a press re­lease from the Min­istry of Health:

On No­vem­ber 4th, 2021, the Di­vali hol­i­day, the Ho­n­ourable Ter­rence Deyals­ingh, Min­is­ter of Health vis­it­ed the Doc­tors, Nurs­es and oth­er Med­ical Staff at the COVID-19 wards in the Cou­va Hos­pi­tal and Mul­ti-Train­ing Fa­cil­i­ty.

Al­so present were the Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer, Mr Davlin Thomas and oth­er se­nior rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the North Cen­tral Re­gion­al Health Au­thor­i­ty. Dur­ing this vis­it, the Min­is­ter ex­pressed his ap­pre­ci­a­tion to front­line work­ers at all lev­els, who have con­tributed their time and skills, at great sac­ri­fice, to treat COVID-19 pa­tients with care and dili­gence at the fa­cil­i­ty.

He took the op­por­tu­ni­ty to wish the health­care team ‘Hap­py Di­vali’ and en­cour­aged them to con­tin­ue to rep­re­sent light over dark­ness for their pa­tients. The Min­istry of Health con­tin­ues to pro­vide the re­sources need­ed to sup­port the sig­nif­i­cant ef­forts of health­care work­ers who op­er­ate in var­i­ous facets of pub­lic health dur­ing this pan­dem­ic.

The na­tion­al re­sponse to the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic is peo­ple-cen­tred, col­lab­o­ra­tive and sci­ence-dri­ven. Mem­bers of the pub­lic are there­fore en­cour­aged to be vac­ci­nat­ed as soon as pos­si­ble as this can re­duce se­ri­ous ill­ness and hos­pi­tal­iza­tions due to COVID-19, which in turn will re­duce the strain on our front­line health­care work­ers.
