The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries has sent a team of three experts to Venezuela, to examine the FSO Nabarima.

This, according to Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dr Amery Browne.

Minister Browne told Guardian Media that after several diplomatic requests from the T&T Government, permission was granted for this country to send an independent team to Venezuela to examine the vessel, first hand.

Minister Browne said a report should be forthcoming from the experts as to the condition of the vessel.

The condition of the FSO Nabarima has raised international concern that it can tip over, contaminating the Caribbean Sea.

The vessel is said to have over one million barrels of crude oil stored on it.
