The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI) has confirmed that it received reports of an incident on Friday at Cluster S-912, a facility owned and operated by Heritage Petroleum Company Limited, located in the South West Soldado Field.

Line Ministers Dr Roodal Moonilal, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, and Ernesto Kesar, Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, have been briefed on the situation and continue to monitor developments closely.

As of 3:00 p.m., a light hydrocarbon sheen was observed moving in a north-easterly direction, according to trajectory modelling.

Preliminary estimates indicate that the volume of the hydrocarbon spill is less than one barrel.

Heritage Petroleum said it has deployed response teams to the affected site and has initiated additional surveillance measures to contain and assess the impact of the incident.

The MEEI said it remains actively engaged with Heritage, and technical personnel have been deployed to the Trinmar Base to support response efforts. Investigations and monitoring are ongoing.
