?The Na­tion­al Dance As­so­ci­a­tion of Trinidad and To­ba­go, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion, host­ed the Sec­ondary Schools Dance Fes­ti­val at the Rudranath Capildeo Learn­ing Re­source Cen­tre, Mc Bean, yes­ter­day.

Im­me­di­ate­ly, the danc­ing fever spread like wild fire as stu­dents from all over the coun­try and their sup­port­ers came well pre­pared to im­press the judges with their com­plex and in­tri­cate rou­tines. Hip Hop to Latin, Caribbean Folk to Bal­let, In­di­an Clas­si­cal to Tap and of course a pinch of Mod­ern Dance and Pas­sa Pas­sa, it was plain to see that these stu­dents had worked hard. How­ev­er, there were a few mishaps which con­tributed to the lus­tre of the com­pe­ti­tion.

Sev­er­al per­form­ers took tum­bles be­cause of the over­ly pol­ished dance sur­face and it was a mir­a­cle that no one suf­fered se­ri­ous in­jury. Al­so, there was a mix-up with the com­peti­tors' mu­sic in­ter­rupt­ing the flow of the en­tire com­pe­ti­tion. Some dancers had to re­sort to danc­ing with­out mu­sic since their CDs were dam­aged. And, there were a few cos­tume short­com­ings but even that did not not stop the dancers from go­ing through their rou­tines. The fi­nals of the Sec­ondary Schools Dance Fes­ti­val will be held on March 19, at the Rudranath Capildeo Learn­ing Re­source Cen­tre, Mc Bean.
