?The National Dance Association of Trinidad and Tobago, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, hosted the Secondary Schools Dance Festival at the Rudranath Capildeo Learning Resource Centre, Mc Bean, yesterday.
Immediately, the dancing fever spread like wild fire as students from all over the country and their supporters came well prepared to impress the judges with their complex and intricate routines. Hip Hop to Latin, Caribbean Folk to Ballet, Indian Classical to Tap and of course a pinch of Modern Dance and Passa Passa, it was plain to see that these students had worked hard. However, there were a few mishaps which contributed to the lustre of the competition.
Several performers took tumbles because of the overly polished dance surface and it was a miracle that no one suffered serious injury. Also, there was a mix-up with the competitors' music interrupting the flow of the entire competition. Some dancers had to resort to dancing without music since their CDs were damaged. And, there were a few costume shortcomings but even that did not not stop the dancers from going through their routines. The finals of the Secondary Schools Dance Festival will be held on March 19, at the Rudranath Capildeo Learning Resource Centre, Mc Bean.
