Miss World T&T representative Ache Abrahams is promising to represent Trinidad and Tobago to the best of her ability and bring the crown home. Abrahams was greeted at the Piarco International Airport by a group of well-wishers, family and friends as she left for the competition in India. She held the T&T flag proudly as she danced to the music of the steelpan accompanied by African drums. Speaking to members of the media before her departure, Abrahams said she is excited to go to Delhi and Mumbai to represent her country.
“I want everyone to be as surprised for I have incredible costumes and gowns for them to see. My director, Charu Lochan-Dass made my finale gown which is so beautiful and I can’t wait for you to see it because it symbolises the Caribbean Sea,” Abrahams said. She was also grateful to the citizens of T&T for the love and encouragement she has received since she was selected in November 2022.
“To sweet T&T, thank you so much for your support from day one. I will do my best. I will continue to pour my heart and soul into this experience and hopefully bring home the crown,” she added. Miss World T&T franchise holder Charu Lochan-Dass was proud of Abrahams as she promoted her beauty with a purpose project—a book authored by Abrahams titled Let’s talk about Feelings.
“She’s poured her heart and soul into this. She went to many schools and spoke to thousands of young children. We keep saying that Miss World is about beauty with a purpose. It is the heart and soul of Miss World and it is really about impacting lives and creating change in your community, in your country and by large the world.
“So this is Ache’s legacy and its distributed throughout schools and she visited many schools and spoke to thousands of young children about her book, her project. We have been preparing for a year and four months now. We have been waiting for this day and preparing her. Without a shadow of a doubt Achè is going to go represent T&T to the best of her ability and she’s going to do us proud. She’s bringing home the crown,” Lochan-Dass added.
Abrahams’ mother, Camille spoke about how preparing for the Miss World competition changed her daughter.
“I keep telling her no matter what you are coming home with that crown. Our expectations are high because we see her coming back with the grace of going through everything that she went through. The franchise holders really pushed her and gave her that level of readiness and no matter what happens my daughter is coming back a queen,” the proud mother said.
The Miss World competition takes place in Delhi, India on March 9.
