A murder suspect failed to appear in the Sangre Grande Magistrate Court yesterday as scheduled because of the information relating to his case was not submitted to the court.
Tarran Nannan, a 60-year-old handyman and PH driver, was scheduled to appear on charges of murdering his sister-in-law Savitri Narine, 44, and wounding three other people, including Narine’s 18-year-old daughter Nirrmala, during a shooting incident at a Plum Road, Manzanilla bar on December 9.
This means the murder suspect will have to remain another night in police custody pending his court appearance today. Family members of the suspect, who gathered at the court, were upset and disturbed and complained to their attorneys Shivanand Dubay and Jerry Holder. They said Nannan had been arrested eight days ago and he had been served with copies of the charges laid against him.
The charges were laid by PC Danny Moonsammy of Homicide Region 11 Arouca.
