The Min­istry of Works and Trans­port has an­nounced that giv­en the im­pact of the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic on the op­er­a­tions of the Trans­port Di­vi­sion’s Li­cens­ing Of­fices, on March 31, 2021 the Min­is­ter of Works and Trans­port, Ro­han Sinanan signed or­ders which fur­ther ex­tend­ed:

(1) the va­lid­i­ty of the dri­ver’s per­mits, taxi dri­ver li­cences, badges, cer­tifi­cates or oth­er doc­u­ments is­sued by the Li­cens­ing Di­vi­sion which would oth­er­wise have been due to ex­pire on or be­fore Sep­tem­ber 30, 2021 are now deemed to be valid up to Oc­to­ber 01, 2021; and

(2) the time­frame for the com­ple­tion of any trans­fer of ve­hi­cle reg­is­tra­tion – that is, any trans­fer of ve­hi­cle reg­is­tra­tion re­quired to be com­plet­ed on or be­fore Sep­tem­ber 30, 2021 may be com­plet­ed on or be­fore Oc­to­ber 01, 2021.

A state­ment by the Min­istry said that mem­bers of the gen­er­al pub­lic should pay par­tic­u­lar at­ten­tion to the dates iden­ti­fied above.

“The Min­istry of Works and Trans­port con­tin­ues to en­cour­age the pub­lic to make the nec­es­sary arrange­ments for the re­new­al of any per­mits and oth­er doc­u­ments is­sued by the Li­cens­ing Au­thor­i­ty on or be­fore Oc­to­ber 01, 2021, notwith­stand­ing the grant­i­ng of this ex­ten­sion of the va­lid­i­ty of doc­u­ments and the time­frame for the com­ple­tion of ve­hi­cle reg­is­tra­tion trans­fers,” the state­ment said.
