A Mor­vant man was shot on Wednes­day night while sit­ting in a car with a fe­male friend.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said the 39-year-old man of Par­adise Heights, Mor­vant and the 23-year-old woman of Las Al­turas, Mor­vant were in a white Nis­san Ti­i­da at In­dus­tri­al Road, Mor­vant, around 10.10 pm when a masked gun­man walked up and or­dered them out.

As they re­fused and locked the doors, the gun­man fired a sin­gle shot, hit­ting the dri­ver in the neck be­fore walk­ing off.

Res­i­dents alert­ed of­fi­cers who ar­rived to find the dri­ver bleed­ing.

The woman ex­plained they had been talk­ing when the gun­man walked up and at­tempt­ed to rob them.

Of­fi­cers took the in­jured man to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope, where he was treat­ed and re­mains in a sta­ble con­di­tion.
