Rima Hosein’s worst fears became reality yesterday, when she identified a body found in Central last month to be that of one of her missing sons, Mikiel Hosein.
She was taken to the Forensic Science Centre in James on Monday morning, where she viewed the decomposing body found in Woodford Gardens, Chaguanas, in November.
She identified her son’s body via the tattoo of a dove and the name of his missing brother Matthew on the left hand.
After identifying the body, she was taken to the Chaguanas Police Station to be interviewed by police investigators.
Hosein’s brother Matthew, 17, was last seen on August 25 and CCTV footage retrieved by police investigators showed him walking along the Freeport Mission Road at Three Roads Junction talking on a cellphone. The footage also had audible audio which captured parts of Matthew’s conversation.
Mikiel went missing on October 31 in Chaguanas. He was last seen talking to a popular crime talk show television host. It is believed that he was being watched by someone as he spoke to the television personality.
Speaking with the Guardian Media yesterday, Rima Hosein said while she had closure now on Mikiel, she was not giving up searching for her younger son Matthew.
She recently printed flyers and began distributing them herself in her community, including at St Mary’s Junction in Freeport.
Police told Guardian Media that officers of the Freeport Police Station, Canine Unit and Homicide searched a bushy area at Upper Arena Road, near WASA’s water tanks, and found a pouch. It is, however, yet to be confirmed if it belongs to any of the two brothers.
Anyone with any information that can assist the police in their investigations as to the whereabouts of Matthew is asked to contact PC Stoute of the Freeport Police Station, any other police station, 999, 555 or 800-TIPS.
